BORN FROM WRC

The new GR Yaris is no normal hot hatch.

It's a thoroughbred. Born from WRC. It’s not made by committee, but by people united by one passion: winning. Co-developed with TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team, it incorporates knowledge and technology from the pinnacle of motorsport, enabling it to succeed on every surface in the World Rally Championship (WRC), yet still deliver true sports car feeling, every day, on the roads you tackle.

United through rally

Fate brought Tommi Mäkinen and Akio Toyoda together in 2014. The four-time WRC champion and president of Toyota - two men united through rally - bonded in one epic session of ice driving. The perfect spark for Toyota's return to the WRC with a sports car built to win. The new GR Yaris.

All for GR-FOUR

At the heart of the new GR Yaris is GR-FOUR, Toyota's first sports four-wheel-drive system in 20 years. Developed in collaboration with TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team and honed by WRC drivers, it delivers exceptional levels of traction and control.

  • Control your experience

The GR Yaris’ 4WD controller offers three modes, Track (50:50), Sport (30:70) and Normal (60:40), that let you tailor the car’s behaviour to your mood, whether it’s more control for circuits, a spirited rear-wheel drive feeling on country roads or greater agility in the city.

  • The balance of torque

The GR-FOUR’s lightweight 4WD system features a high-response coupling and electronic clutch to balance torque between front and rear axles. When braking into corners, torque is sent to the rear wheels to give you more control and confidence.

  • Made for the Circuit

Front and rear Torsen limited-slip differentials (LSD) form part of the GR Yaris’ optional high-performance Circuit Pack. Managing torque between the left and right-side wheels, the LSD delivers optimum power to the road, maximising speed and heightening your fun at the wheel.

Racing response

Under the bonnet of the GR Yaris lies an engine that’s anything but ordinary. Compact, lightweight and high-revving, this intoxicating 1.6-litre turbocharged powerplant is ready to respond on the track and ready to thrill on the road.

  • Power 261 DIN hp
  • Torque 360 NM
  • 0-100 km/h 5.2 sec
  • Top speed 230 km/h
  • World class performer

Producing 261 DIN hp and 360 Nm of torque, this is the world’s most powerful three-cylinder production engine. Tractable and easy to drive in the city but immediate and thrilling outside of it, the GR Yaris delivers a pulse-quickening power-to-weight ratio of 4.9 kg per DIN hp.

  • Roots in competition

Our all-new, three-cylinder engine features motorsport know-how and materials never seen before in a production car. Incorporating a unique head and block, bespoke crankshaft and pistons and single-scroll ball-bearing turbo, this featherweight engine packs a seriously heavy punch.

  • Taming the power

Harnessing this power is a new, dedicated platform featuring high-performance double wishbone suspension. Powerful two-piece 356 mm front discs with four-pot calipers deliver unwavering stopping ability, while a precise six-speed manual transmission keeps you involved and entertained.

Styled for success

Unlike most new cars, the GR Yaris hasn’t been designed to turn heads, but to lift trophies – in style. Low, wide and dramatic, its aerodynamic design employs a host of weight-saving materials to ensure it wins on the fast crests of Rally Finland and the flowing curves of your favourite road.

  • The lighter, the better

In a ruthless pursuit of performance, 38 kg has been shaved from a normal Yaris bodyshell. With its carbon-fibre polymer roof, frameless doors and aluminium bonnet, doors and tailgate, our compact sports car rewards with agility, immediacy and precision.

  • Lower, wider, smoother

To optimise aerodynamic performance and maximise cooling, hours of wind tunnel tests were carried out by the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team. The GR Yaris’ distinctive coupé silhouette and 91mm lower roofline ensure air is smoothly controlled to the rear of the car.

  • Forged for the corners

Our sports car’s wide, muscular stance is completed by a set of eye-catching 18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels. To reduce unsprung weight and dial-up agility and grip, lightweight 18-inch forged alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4s form part of the GR Yaris’ optional Circuit Pack.

Made by Motomachi

When you need to assemble a truly bespoke sports car like the GR Yaris, there's only one place you want your creation to come alive: Motomachi, Japan. The birthplace of legends such as the Lexus LFA and Supra A80, Motomachi is now home to the first GR production line, ready to hand-build a hot hatch like no other

Being handmade by experts means that each GR Yaris takes over 10 times longer to be assembled than a conventional mass-produced car. The production line has been streamlined for performance, with elements such as body alignment checks and additional welding ensuring that each GR Yaris is built with meticulous care and attention. Just as any bespoke racing machine should.
